Channi’s Licensed Indian Restaurant is set in the heart of Sparkhill in the Balti Triangle.
About Sparkhill…
Sparkhill was an agricultural area until the late 1800s. Many of the buildings in the area are pre-world war I, but there was some damage from bombing during World War II and so there area pockets of 1940′s housing to be found amongst the older houses.
There are some old landmarks, usually in the shape of pubs such as The Mermaid, The Antelope and The Bear, many of these have since become Balti Restaurants.
Sparkhill It has a large population of ethnic minorities, mostly of South Asian origin, this has influenced the culture of the area and hence the Balti Triangle was born.

Bev Bevan, drummer with The Move and the Electric Light Orchestra.
Moazzam Begg, Guantanamo Bay detainee.
Gil Merrick, Birmingham City goalkeeper.
About The Balti Triangle…
…The Balti Triangle is almost certainly the birthplace of the balti, but also has one of the highest concentrations of curry houses in the UK.

About Channi’s…
Channi has been a restaurateur for 30 years, initially for 10 years at The Spice Garden in Ward End. For the past 20 years he has been the proprietor of Channi’s in Sparkhill.
Originally from East Africa, Channi provides food which is a delicious fusion of Kenyan and Indian cuisine.
